Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get frozen fillets?
No. We provide our fish fresh, never frozen, within hours of being harvested. This insures our customers have the fresh “just caught” taste.
Why isn't your Arctic Char fillets the deep red color that most other Arctic Char fillets have?
Our Arctic Char fillets are a natural color because we do not add unnecessary dyes to our fish feed.
Why are you raising your fish indoors? Why not outdoors?
We are raising our fish in a bio-secure facility because we can control the elements, such as water temperature, air temperature, fish feed regulation, and who comes in contact with the fish. We do not have ponds outdoors because there can be run-off from other farms that carry chemicals and pesticides that we do not want contaminating our waters and eventually our fish.
Why is your farmed Arctic Char better than wild caught Arctic Char?
Since our fish are raised in a bio-secure environment. There are no concerns for heavy metal contamination of the fish, like mercury.
Why do you fish only Lake Superior?
Lake Superior is the largest and one of the deepest fresh water lakes in the world. The Whitefish of Lake Superior are considered, by Great Lake fisherman, “superior” in taste to the other Great Lakes Whitefish.
What are the health benefits to eating your Arctic Char?
Our Arctic Char is high in Omega-3 fatty acids and roughly the same amount as sockeye salmon but with a milder taste. In a 6-ounce filet of our Arctic Char, there are 1.7 grams of omega-3 fatty acids. And because it is farm raised in pristine artesian water, there is no mercury in our fish.
